People Who Make The North is an ongoing documentary project.

It focuses on the people whose work, care, creativity, and commitment quietly shape the places we live — often without recognition or spotlight. The project looks beyond job titles and labels, paying attention instead to the everyday acts that keep communities moving, held, and alive.

These stories are made slowly. Time is taken to listen, to understand, and to represent people with care. The work is not about performance or perfection, but about honesty, dignity, and place.

Many of the stories shared here are non-profit and community-led. Others are supported through commissioned work, allowing the project to continue sustainably and ethically.

People Who Make The North exists to acknowledge the labour — visible and invisible — that forms the backbone of the North, and to make space for voices that deserve to be seen and heard.
